A NEW THRESHOLDING METHOD FOR DENOISING OF BIOLOGICAL SIGNALS USING WAVELETS

Abstract: Methods based on thresholding of wavelet coefficients are very popular for denoising of biological signals. In this paper, denoising method based on a New Thresholding filter is proposed for biological signals. We applied this method to denoise EEG signal contaminated with additive Gaussian noise. The results are compared with that of methods based on popular Hard and Soft thresholding filters. It is found that New thresholding filter performs superior to Hard and Soft filters in denoising signals. It embodies the features of both Hard and Soft filters. Different qualities of denoising are obtained by varying the parameters of this filter. |
