DETECTION OF GEAR SPALL USING WAVELET TRANSFORM
A. Parey (India) and N. Tandon (India)
Abstract:
In this paper wavelet transform is used to detect the gear fault. A fatigue test has been conducted on gearbox by running it continuously until its destruction. Vibration acceleration signals were collected in every 24 hours. Wavelet transform has been performed using Morlet wavelet on these signals. Morlet wavelet proves to be a good mother wavelet to detect the gear surface defect like spall, very conveniently.
Keywords and phrases:
wavelet transform, vibration acceleration, Morlet wavelet, Spall.
