UNIAXIAL TENSILE AND COMPRESSIVE TESTING OF SPRAYED STEEL FIBER-REINFORCED CONCRETE
S. Okubo (Japan), K. Fukui (Japan), Q. Yang (Japan) and T. Ochi (Japan)
Abstract:
The superior mechanical properties offered by steel fiber-reinforced concrete are well known, and these materials are being employed in an increasingly wide range of applications. While numerous reports have described their mechanical properties, nearly all of these studies have addressed poured steel fiber-reinforced concrete and, consequently, not enough is known about the properties of sprayed steel fiber-reinforced concrete. In the present study, samples of sprayed steel fiber-reinforced concrete were gathered during ordinary on-site spraying operations and subjected to tensile and compressive tests to determine their mechanical properties. Complete stress-strain curves in both tension and compression are obtained and the typical prominent anisotropy of sprayed concrete specimens is examined. A test method developed by the authors is also employed to obtain viscoelastic data on sprayed concrete specimens; such data have been almost completely unreported.
Keywords and phrases:
