PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DSP AND ARM PROCESSORS FOR IMAGE PROCESSING APPLICATIONS
This paper discusses the benefits of combining ARM processor with DSP processor in a single chip. The board which is used in this work is developed by TI combining the power of DSP with the general-purpose capabilities of ARM architecture. This board consists of Integra DSP+ARM processor. Integra combines networking, file management and user interface features of an ARM processor running OS such as Linux, Android, and Windows CE with real-time signal processing power of DSP. The overall system performance is improved by utilizing DSP for real-time signal processing and ARM for system control and application processing. Additionally, on-chip peripherals provide network connectivity, high speed memory interfaces and standard memory bus interfaces.
