AN EXAMPLE OF LINKS BETWEEN MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS: TRANSLATORY MOTION AND MATHEMATICAL TRANSLATION
This article focuses on presenting in a didactical context, the equivalence and/or relationship among different characterizations of translatory motion, using the concept of geometrical translation and points out that this is just an example of the fruitful interplay between mathematics and physics, that should always be central and permeate the teaching and learning of both disciplines. Gasser [6] had clearly shown the confusion made by students and some mathematics teachers between translatory motion and rectilinear motion. Beyond this amalgamation, our purpose is to explain the relationship between translatory motion and mathematical (geometrical) translation.
