QUALITY OF SERVICE ISSUES FOR AODV APPLIED TO VEHICULAR NETWORKS
Quality of Service (QoS) is an important problem area for vehicular networks. As most of the work is delegated to a routing protocol, we consider the de facto stand for routing in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), namely, ad hoc on demand distance vector (AODV). IEEE 802.11e supports quality of service through seven priority levels. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of AODV on IEEE 802.11e for different vehicular scenarios. We consider the realistic Saha model and the INVENT microscopic model. The results show better performance in terms of packet delivery and routing overhead for the highest priority level in terms of Quality of Service.
