Abstract: This paper investigates the optimization on the energy efficiency for cluster-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In order to prolong lifetime of WSNs, the balance of the energy dissipation of all nodes is the main issue for hierarchical cluster-based WSNs. Moreover, the energy efficiency depends on the number of clusters in WSNs where the cluster heads (CHs) transmit sensing data received from each sensor in the cluster and dissipate large energy due to the long distance to the sink. Thus, in this paper both numerical and simulation results are investigated to optimize the number of clusters for long lifetime in WSNs. |
