BLIND MODULATION CLASSIFICATION FOR SDR APPLICATION

Abstract:
Modulation classification is an intermediate step between signal detection and demodulation. Blind recognition of modulation format of the received signal is important in Software Defined Radio (SDR), which copes with the variety of communication standards. QPSK and its variants are the recommended modulation types for a large number of mobile and wireless communication standards. This work reports on a new digital modulation classification method in multipath fading and frequency selective channels. The proposed classification technique uses Phase difference between symbols in a frame, Euclidean distance between symbols and signal constellation shape for classifying variants of QPSK samples.
