A NOTE ON THERMOELASTODIFFUSION
Stefano De Miranda (Italy)
|
Abstract: A theory is developed for predicting the coupled phenomenon of heat transfer and fluid constituent diffusion in an elastic solid: the thermoelastodiffusion. The theory is based on a revised form of the general theory of mixtures in which the definitions of the quantities associated with the mixture differ from what usually assumed. In particular, the definitions adopted in this work are such that the quantities associated with the mixture preserve their primitive physical meaning (i.e., the physical meaning they have when associated with the single constituent). The result is the formulation of a thermoelastodiffusion theory in which all the quantities involved have a clear physical meaning and that is directly applicable to the solution of practical problems. |
Keywords and phrases: theory of mixtures, heat and mass transfer, coupled thermomechanical-diffusion. |
