Abstract: A linear r-consecutive-k-out-of-n: G
system (r-consecutive-k-out-of-n: F system,
respectively), consists of n components lying on a line; the system works
(fails) if and only if there are at least r non-overlapping runs of k consecutive
components all work (all fail). In the present paper we give the reliability
formulas of these systems and we discuss the problem of the optimal assignment
of components for maximizing the reliability of the system for |
