Abstract: Besides size and power, admissibility of a test procedure is a
much desired property. Admissibility for a test procedure is equivalent to the
procedure having acceptance regions with convex sections in certain variables,
while other variables are fixed. Using this concept, Cohen
[J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 69 (1974), 721-725] derived necessary and sufficient
condition for admissibility of a conditionally specified test (CST) procedure in
three-stage balanced nested random-effects model. In this paper, conditions for
admissibility of CST procedures have been worked out for three-stage unbalanced
nested classification with random-effects model. |
Keywords and phrases: admissibility, preliminary test of significance, conditionally
specified test, unbalanced nested design, random-effects model. |
