Abstract: A theoretical analysis of unsteady heat and momentum
transfer in free convection flow along an infinite hot porous vertical plate
suddenly set in uniform motion in its own plane, in infinite mass of fluid at
rest in presence of transverse magnetic field fixed to the plate, has been
presented. Similar solution of energy boundary layer equation, for a particular
form of suction velocity is obtained. For solution of
momentum boundary layer equation, a series expansion of velocity function in
powers of product of magnetic field parameter and time (mt) is assumed. The
analytical solutions of resulting ordinary differential equations have been
obtained in terms of complementary error function and repeated integrals of
complementary error function. The numerical values of surface heat transfer and
shearing stress at the plate for different values of Prandtl number, magnetic
field parameter and suction velocity parameter have been tabulated and discussed
in detail. Also, the velocity profiles at a fixed time, for different values of
the parameters, mentioned above, are drawn and discussed.
