Abstract: We here attempt to investigate the disturbance
generated by a sphere, admitting slippage on its surface, when placed in a
viscous axially symmetric primary flow described by the general Stokes stream
function The resulting stream function leads
to the determination of the drag on the sphere. Explicit results are obtained
for some special cases viz., uniform stream, source, doublet and Stokeslet. It
is found that the role of the slip is to decrease the drag.
