Abstract: In this paper, combustion and emission characteristics and various performances of a DI-HCCI diesel engine using 2-stage injection were investigated. From this study, application ability of 2-stage injection strategy to a DI-HCCI engine was confirmed and improvement methodologies of performance and emission were considered. As the results, using 2-stage injection methodology, without charge of engine specification and loss of IMEP, the exhaust emission of NOx and smoke could be reduced to about 33% (at 1400rpm, IMEP 6bar) compared to conventional diesel combustion. |
Keywords and phrases: HCCI (homogeneous charged combustion ignition), EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), multiple injection, compression ratio, intake pressure, premixed combustion ratio.
