GALLSTONES AND DIET

Abstract: Gallstones, also called cholelithiasis, develop when small particles of the bile in the gallbladder solidify into a stone-like mass. The types of gallstone in the gallbladder are cholesterol gallstones and pigment gallstones. The causes for gallstones are bile contains too much cholesterol/too much bilirubin or gallbladder does not empty correctly. The female, age above 40 are more risk person for developing gallstone compared to male and other age group people. To reduce the risk of gallstone, avoid high animal foods, processed foods, fried and greased foods and refined carbohydrates etc. Inclusion of high-fibre diets, foods rich in vitamin C, fruit juices, drinking lot of water and proper exercises may reduce the further formation and complications of gallstone. |
