A STUDY ON THE COLLISION ANALYSIS OF WAVE POWER GENERATING DEVICE
Offshore service vessels (OSVs) occasionally collide with the brace members of the floating wave power generating devices (FWPGDs) in different colliding angles. The kinetic energy of the colliding ship is transferred into the deformation energy of the device. In this situation, the load-displacement curve, including the geometrical and material nonlinearities for a given load, is obtained. This absorbed energy can be the parameter for identifying the risk of the colliding vessel and FWPGD. Collision analysis for the possible colliding angles into the center brace and corner brace of FWPGD was carried out in order to find the more danger situations of collision between the OSV and the wave power generating device. Through the analysis, we establish a remedy for the safety maintenance of the device. In this paper, relevant FEM analysis has been carried out through ANSYSLS-DYNA. Comparative study among different cases of collision angles of the ship is also carried out resulting in verification of the collision risk.
