UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING OF TASKS INVOLVING WAYS TO APPROXIMATE DEFINITE INTEGRALS
This study aims to analyze the difficulties that first year university students show to comprehend certain basic concepts of integral calculus, such as approximation error, error bounds and exact and approximate values. The concept of Riemann integral was chosen for this purpose along with a series of sessions using digital technologies. The Computer Algebra System (CAS) Derivewas used, in particular, as a tool to facilitate the understanding of the aforementioned concepts.
