DISCRIMINATION IN SEISMOLOGY BASED ON AUTOCOVARIANCES
Rahim Chinipardaz (Iran)
|
Abstract: The
problem of discrimination between two time
series processes is considered for the real
life data. It is shown that the discrimination
can be made with some autocovariances. This
method and the method based on fitting are
used to seismic data generated by earthquakes
and explosions recorded in Scandinavia. The
linear and quadratic approaches have been
compared for both P-waves
and S-waves
by misclassification rate criterion. The
results confirm the new method more efficient
than the fitting method. |
