HOCKING’S EDGE CONDITION RECONSIDERED: SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM OF CAPILLARY-GRAVITY WAVES IN A SPECIAL SETTING
The paper constructs a solution of forced capillary-gravity waves problem outside a cylindrical wavemaker of infinite depth under Hocking’s edge condition. This setting is introduced after the physical plausibility of Hocking’s is indicated in comparison to Ting and Perlin’s edge condition. Uniqueness of the solution is also shown. A model of earthquakes based on modification of such result and possible applications are proposed in the end.
