Abstract: In the real life, there are many events require us to put some patterns on a limited area, such as in garment industry, wood crafts, as well as metal. These conditions require us to put those patterns in the optimum position so that they use the minimum space. Nowadays this process is still done manually, but it will be difficult if the patterns have irregular shapes. Tabu search method, a method for finding the optimal position by using the computer as a tool, is used to overcome these obstacles. The objective of this paper is for designing and building a system to get the optimal position of some patterns laying on a piece of cloth using Tabu search method. A computer program to achieve this objective will be made started from some inputs in the form of clothing patterns, changing the images of those patterns into some objects which can be used in the program, and processing the objects for producing a combination image of those clothing patterns as an output. The testing stage will use some clothing patterns which consist of several parts, obtained by the analysis that the system can find the optimum position of these patterns. One thing that must be considered is the use of bitmap format for images can reduce the accuracy of the image because of the refining effect is applied on the graphic. |
