During many years POI provides development of technologies for the collection, accumulation, processing and long-time storage of the data on the ocean environment to maintain the POI studies in western Pacific. Using of modern information technologies ensures a possibility of making the capacious electronic oceanographic information-reference systems, thematic data bases, atlases and their delivery to users through computer networks and on CD-ROM. Last research effort is oriented on the supporting of coast studies and coastal area management. So it is developed a complex Information System “Natural ecosystems exploitation, state and tendencies of changing of marine environment of coastal areas of Russia in the Japan/East Sea” http://pacificinfo.ru/data/cdrom/11/. The System provides quick access to raw and gridded data and specially selected information which stored on CD-ROMs and in the “on-line” mode. The implementation of these projects provides complex studies of the processes, characteristics and resources of the Russian Far Eastern Seas, dynamics of the ecosystems, control for the coastal zones condition for the rational nature management, etc.
