Abstract: In this paper, we propose the standard mixture model by Berkson and Gage assuming that the lifetime of individuals at risk following generalized modified Weibull distribution. This distribution allows flexibility in modeling monotone and non-monotone shape hazard rates. The proposed model includes as special cases some of the well-known cure rate models discussed in the literature. Utilizing maximum likelihood techniques, we fit the model to a real cutaneous melanoma data. |
