ENTROPY MEASURE AND ENERGY MAP USING DICTIONARY PROJECTION PURSUIT IN PATTERN RECOGNITION

Abstract: Using the relative entropy criterion, we present a wavelet-based feature extraction algorithm for classification and extend its applications to the projection pursuit technique. The proposed method is applicable to a broad range of pattern recognition problems. In this paper, we apply it to the analysis of cylinder-head vibration data for engine fault detection and diagnosis. The usefulness of the singular value decomposition method in the study and the assessment of classification results is illustrated by analyzing the coefficient matrix, constructed from projecting the data onto the selected bases in determining the extent of correlation among coefficients. |
