Abstract: A linear transconductor is an important analog function
circuit. The linearity is deteriorated by mobility degradation due to the effect
of the vertical electric field. This paper proposes a new technique to improve
linearity of the transconductor with local feedback. The proposed technique has
two key ideas. One is a new circuit design, which is a kind of an adaptively
biasing configuration. The other is a new method to obtain the optimal parameter
value for linear characteristic. In the method, it is not necessary to express
the output current as a function of the input voltage. The equation for
linearization is obtained from the curvature of the transconductance at SPICE simulation results show that
the proposed technique is effective for improvement of linearity of the
transconductor.
