Abstract: Rough set theory is a relative new tool that deals with vagueness and uncertainty inherent in decision making. In this paper, we suggest a new rough algorithm for reducing dimensions and extracting rules of information systems using expert systems. The conceptual design of ship’s engine rooms (CDSER) of a new 50,000 DWT bulk carrier was taken as a case study in this work. The analysis result shows that our rough algorithm is useful for conceptual design of ship’s engine room and extracting the most informative and useful knowledge. This paper offers both theoretical and practical guidelines in the construction of rough sets theory, for the analysis of real world data. |
Keywords and phrases: conceptual design of ship’s engine rooms (CDSER), rough sets theory, information system. |
