Abstract: An analytical solution of the problem of a
two-dimensional steady MHD freeconvective
couette and mass transfer flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically
conducting fluid between two infinite vertical parallel plates with the viscous
and magnetic dissipations of energy has been presented. A uniform magnetic field
is assumed to be applied transversely to the direction of the flow taking into
account the induced magnetic field. The plates are subjected to constant suction
and injection. The governing equations are solved by regular perturbation
technique. The expressions forthevelocityfield, temperature
field, species concentration, skin friction and the coefficient of heat transfer
(in terms of Nusselt numbers) at the walls are obtained and their numerical
values are demonstrated in graphs. The effects of Hartmann number M,
the Reynolds number R, the magnetic
Reynolds number and the Schmidt number S
on the flow, heat and mass transfer are discussed.
