suggesting that the pool of 210Po
and 234Th adsorbed on phytoplankton and POC was controlled by the
concentrations of phytoplankton and POC. The distribution coefficients
of 210Po for POC were
significantly higher than those of 234Th
Therefore, the affinity of 210Po
for POC appeared greater than that of 234Th. We suggest that POC and
organisms such as phytoplankton played an important role in controlling the
scavenging of 210Po and 234Th in this region of the ocean.
