Abstract: In this paper, by using spline
over the triangulation, we show how the knots of triangulation can be removed to
produce a new spline which is within a given tolerance of the original one. A
weight is assigned to each knot, which is a measure of the importance of knot in
the representation of spline. It is a discrete method. In the end of this paper,
several numerical examples are presented to show the feasibility and validity of
our method.
