ON THE CULTURAL MISSION OF MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

Abstract:
The knowledge economy, informationalization and globalization of the 21st century ultimately effect the notions of modern education. And mathematics education ought to establish its completely new ones, too. Mathematics course should help students to gain the comparatively overall spirit, cultural attainment of mathematics, make them adaptable to needs of study, work and life in the future, and forester them to be creators of future culture, rather than common learners blind followers. Mathematics education is supposed to undertake the mission in disseminating the culture of mathematics, therefore, the spirit and culture of mathematics must be carried into the class, and embodied in mathematics textbooks, courses and teaching to exert a great infrequence on students.
