Abstract: The study of the compressibility of Bafoussam soils has been carried out on representative samples. The realised experiments have shown that the compression index varies in the interval of 0.29 to 0.55. The study of the relationships between the compression index and the physical characteristics has permitted to prove significative correlations between this index and the void ratio, the water content and the plasticity index, with the correlation coefficients of 0.76, 0.68 and 0.56, respectively. A model for determination of the compression index with the use of the values of void ratio, water content and plasticity index has been elaborated. This model can be used for the determination of the compression index of Bafoussam soils by using simple physical parameters. |
