FINITE ELEMENTS METHOD FOR TIDE SIMULATION IN EBRIE LAGOON IN ABIDJAN (IVORY COAST)
This paper describes the development and application of a multilayered 2D hydrodynamic model for tide simulation in the Vridi channel (in Abidjan). The motion governing equations are discretized into finite elements forms. A four order Runge-Kutta scheme coupled with the same order of Prediction-Correction scheme is used for the simulation. The model is applied to the Vridi channel (in Abidjan). This channel is the only permanent link between the sea and the Ebrie lagoon. The numerical experiments are done in dry season so that the continental water inflow influence is minimized. The simulated results in both linear and non-linear cases and field measurements show good agreement at selected nodes. The comparisons of the numerical results with the measured values are almost identical.
