IDENTIFICATION OF COASTAL EROSION AND ACCRETION USING DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING

Abstract:
The aim of this write up is to propose a novel algorithm towards detection of coastal erosion/accretion. The spatial data were collected from 1970 hydrographic chart, 1976 map, Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) 1A, IRS 1B of 1991 and 2001. Using the above data the spatial model is created and these results offer some insight into erosion/accretion on the 11°30’ Northing to 11°15’ Northing of Tamilnadu state of the Indian east coastal area. This paper provides realistic and valuable information in a short time frame. |
