Abstract: In this paper, the voltage-mode universal biquadratic
filter based on the use of a current-feedback operational amplifier (CFOA) as an
active component is proposed. The proposed construction is comprised of only two
CFOAs, and four passive components. The circuit can realize lowpass, bandpass,
highpass, bandstop and allpass biquadratic filter functions from the same
configuration, and provides orthogonal adjustment of the natural angular
frequency and the bandwidth (BW). No simple
component matching constraint is required for all filter response realizations.
Both its active and passive sensitivities are shown to be low. The effects of
CFOA non-idealities are discussed and simulation results based upon commercially
available AD844-type CFOAs are provided.
