Abstract: Children are wealth of tomorrow. Child health is the foundation of the family and wealth of a nation. Good nutrition is the basic component of growth and development for maintenance of health throughout life. As far as mankind is concerned, the earlier stage of growth and development is the vital factor in determining the whole personality of an individual. The nutritional status is assessed by anthropometric measurement which includes height, weight, head circumference, chest circumference, mid arm circumference and body mass index. The selected children nutritional status were correlated with certain demographic variable and also they were assessed by anthropometric measurement, by using self administered questionnaire. The collected data were grouped and analyzed by using frequency and percentage. Regarding BMI 35(89.7%) were below 15 (underweight), 4(10.3%) were 15-22 (normal weight), and no one observed the risk of obesity and overweight. By these, we conclude that school children are having different grades of malnutrition. The demographic factors are significantly associated with the prevalence of under nutrition. |
