MEASUREMENT OF THE MONETARY POVERTY USING FOSTER-GREER-THORBECKE INDEX WITH DEFUZZIFIED POVERTY LINE
In this paper, we propose a defuzzification of the poverty line. This defuzzification consists in substituting the poverty line by its central crisp value as defined by Bodjanova (see [16]). The obtained defuzzified is afterwards used to measure the monetary poverty with the Foster-Greer-Thorbecke (FGT) index. In this measurement, we consider, the case where the set of the poor individuals is non-fuzzy, and, the case where this set is fuzzy. A real-world application concerning the measurement of the monetary poverty in Cameroon in the year 2014 is carried out to implement the suggested approach.
