LEFT-TO-RIGHT ALGORITHMS FOR ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION
The algorithms for addition and subtraction that are typically taught to school children in the United States all begin with the rightmost digits and proceed to the left. This article discusses some of the disadvantages of these right-to-left methods and offers alternative algorithms of adding and subtracting that proceed from left to right.
